2022 Q2 - Chapter Communications

April 6, 2022

Greetings Wisconsin Chapter IoPP members, affiliates and supporters!

We started our 2022 calendar of events with a social outing in March. The event was held at The Turn in Green Bay, WI. We had seven folks attend and we all enjoyed a quickly passing evening of fun and laughter and for some, like me, brushing up on our golf swing. I have to say the game simulation was as real as golf can be in WI in March as I found myself playing the screen course about the same way as a real one – thank goodness for the scramble format (and I hope my partners for the August IoPP outing don’t read these communications to closely 😉).

Congratulations goes out again to Chris DeJardin for his receipt of the College of Fellows Award which we presented at the March meeting. Thanks to everyone who attended the event and a special thank you to Andrea for making the arrangements (and flyer!).

As you may recall, I reached out in the Q1 newsletter asking for a volunteer to host our Q2 event. As a result, we are now able to put together our next meeting, an onsite tour, at Belmark Inc in De Pere, WI. Belmark manufactures pressure sensitive labels, flexible packaging and folding cartons for customers in a broad range of markets dedicated to bringing customers the creativity, energy and problem-solving to help build brands through innovative packaging solutions.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, May 5th, with registration and tour starting at 4:30PM. We will follow with dinner at Brickhouse Burgers & Brews at about 6:30PM. I’m sure we can have everything wrapped up and you can be on your way home by 8PM. The tour is sensitive to competitors, so please sign up to give ample opportunity to review with the host prior to the event. If you can’t make the tour and would like to join us at the Brickhouse, everyone is certainly welcome. Please do let us know though so we can provide them with a headcount ahead of time.

After our May meeting, our event focus will turn to the golf outing. This year’s golf outing is scheduled for Friday August 19th at Royal St Patrick’s in Wrightstown, WI. Please mark the date on your calendar and make plans now to join us. Like always you can plan on playing on a fantastic golf course along with a great opportunity for raffle and event competitions and support for our mission of generating money for packaging education. If you do not wish to play golf, there are several other ways for you to participate, such as; joining us for the post outing dinner, raffle tickets, and participating in the games held near the clubhouse throughout the day.

One of the most rewarding ways of contributing is by becoming a hole advertiser. We’ve tried to make being a hole advertiser as painless as possible for you as all you need to do is make the commitment and the leadership team will take it from there to get your sign on the course for the entire day of the event.

With the golf outing being our Q3 event, I’m ready to seek ideas for a Q4 event – it could be a social outing or onsite tour. If you have something in mind, please reach out to me and I will connect with you to explore the opportunity and timing. It would be really nice to host an upcoming meeting in the Milwaukee and Madison and central WI areas. So anyone with event ideas from those areas, please feel free to reach out to me and we’ll see if we can put something together.

In closing, I welcome you to sign up for our May meeting event, an onsite tour at Belmark in De Pere on May 5th. I’ll plan to see you there.

Thanks, Mike
